Western Caribbean 2009  NCL Pearl

Cozumel, Mexico
In Cozumel we hired a driver for the day who took us all over the island. We spent most of time in Punta Sur at the eco-friendly national park.  We saw crocodiles and lots of birds.  We snorkeled and took a boat ride through the mangrove lagoon. Finally, a little shopping and back to the ship.

We found this little guy trying to cross the road and rescued him.

They are so cautious about not disturbing the eco-system in the park-the horses wear "diapers" and have soft muzzles on to prevent grazing.  This was a group from another cruise ship.

The west coast was very rough

Abby checks out the croc in the water- he is the brown long form just off the left piling

Abby and Ben- the structure behind them was created to channel air from the north through it and make a whistling sound to warn the people of a storm approaching.

Here's a better photo of the "tomb de catacomb" that funneled air like an enormous wind instrument.

Abby loves swimming and collecting corals and shells

Ben and the colour change beach toys- they are clear in the shade but turn bright colours in the sun.
As you can see in this photo, the eastern side of the park was very calm with little wind.
